They're {heeeere}

{Thomas}

The tiny love of my life is here - my fabulous nephew!  He is the most amazing 2 1/2 year old you will ever meet.  Having over come extreme odds he has become the light of our lives.  He was born at 6 months and weighed just one itsy bitsy pound and after being in the NICU for 6 months he came home.  He had a 5% chance of living which was a horrific thought to all of us.  But now he is a bustling toddler that laughs non-stop, repeats everything in poltregeist voice {hence the their here statement above}, and could make anyone smile with one look from behind those blue glasses.  This is an old picture from Christmas and he changes more than anyone can keep up with but rest assured there will be plenty of pics coming your way next week to document my best little buddy's first trip to Charleston!!!

Black {pond}

This past weekend, in between my running around like a chicken with my head cut off, we attended a get together for the husband's job.  The setting was stunning as you can tell from the following photos - they are a nice reminder of the quiet south that envelopes you in an unexplainable warmth that raptures your heart with utter delight.  My favorite part of the evening was discovering that the house where the party was taking place had its very own name - Black Pond - and with your very own name you get your very own monogrammed towels displayed elegantly next to the pool!

if {only}

If these had existed 5 years ago when I was young and living in a big city, I would have been strutting my stuff all around town in them!  They are just some glittery gold goodness in my eyes.  How fabulous would they be with a great little black cocktail dress?!?!?!

sparkles {galore}

sparkles {galore}

I know that most people believe glitter should be left to little girl dress up time but there is a new way to wear glitter and it is all grown up!  These polishes are the perfect way to add a little sparkle to your everyday routine.  I love them all so much that I can't decide which one to try first.  I'm thinking that Happy Birthday (the multi-colored sparkles) will be the best way to spend my own impending day in a few weeks.

hump day {is it the weekend yet?}

I'm having a tough go of it all this week.  I haven't been sleeping well, the dog keeps begging to get in the bed at 3am, and frankly, I just need an entire week off to get myself together.  Being that I will never have that week I crave I can only look forward to the weekends ... they just can't get here fast enough

We were pretty lazy this past weekend in terms of getting out of the house and being social.  However, we were quite productive inside the house - 1. finished painting the trim in the guest bedroom and didn't kill each other in the process  2. all laundry is done {at least for the moment}  3. air filter successfully changed on the lawn mower {lawn not successfully mowed}  4. homemade banana nutella bread {pictured above and major highlight of the weekend} {recipe here}.

dog days {getting stuff done}

dog days {getting stuff done}

I have a lot to get done over the next few weeks in order to prepare for the impending arrival of my mother, sister, and the most precious baby nephew in the entire universe.  Although Thomas is closing the gap to three and runs around screaming like a punch drunk maniac, in my mind he will always be our first baby.  I would have to say that being overly maternal is the only southern gene I did not inherit - I love to throw parties, dress up, and play house with my silver but never had I ever dreamed about playing house with children until my nephew appeared.  Well, all mushiness aside, as I will be running around Charleston with my head cut off I will at least want to look the part of a prepared and composed Southern woman this weekend.  Ta ta for now!

linus {fireworks}

So this completely cracked me up last night.  Linus absolutely hates the sound of fireworks {and thunderstorms for that matter} and when is under duress from these noises he usually runs around the house holding his stuffed weenie dog {ironic and weird, I know}.  Last night after a fit of  hysteria he sat on the couch with us and he actually began watching the fireworks on TV - I couldn't resist documenting the only time he will give in.   However, after his attempt at being brave he slept under our bed all night.
